About Us

Welcome to the website of The United African Club (UAC) of Laney College.

The UAC was founded in the Fall of 2008 by students at Laney College who sought to bring African students together to learn from one another.

We update this site regularly, so please check back often. You can contact us at uafricanc@yahoo.com.

Our Mission:

  • To unify Africans’ differences and cultural barriers through interaction, debates and cultural events thereby, promoting the unification of African students from the continent of Africa and from all walks of life.

  • The club seeks to promote lasting peace in the war torn regions of Africa, help deter child soldiers, child abuse and child labor, promote women’s rights in Africa, and deter sexual harassment at places of work.

  • Discuss possible ways of enhancing economic growth and promoting good African relationships throughout the entire continent.

  • To create awareness among African youth about their historical heritage before and after the colonial era and engaging them politically, culturally and educationally in modern sciences and technology, thereby instigating African national pride.

  • To be a voice for the African Community home and Abroad.
